The Everclear Tour 2024 Brings Back The 90’s At Lee’s Family Forum With Marcy Playground and Jimmie’s Chicken Shack

On Saturday, Lee’s Family Forum became the home of nostalgia as Everclear brought their tour with Marcy Playground & Jimmie’s Chicken Shack to Henderson for a night of pure fun!

JIMMIES CHICKEN SHACK

Kicking off the night was the iconic Jimmie’s Chicken Shack. With their heavy guitar tones and powerful grooves, I was left in awe of the performance these guys put on. The Maryland-based band started their set with their classic hit ‘Dropping Anchor’ which instantly got the crowd moving.

Lead singer Jimmie McShea’s charismatic presence was particularly notable as he commanded the stage while pumping out insane vocals with some serious pipes.

The sound quality was EXCELLENT throughout the night, allowing each layer of the music to come together perfectly.

Jimmie’s Chicken Shack proved they still have what it takes to deliver an awesome live experience. Their blend of humor, talent, and genuine connection with the audience left everyone talking long after they left the stage. If you get a chance to see them live, don’t miss out!

MARCY PLAYGROUND

Next was Marcy Playground, who treated fans to a nostalgic yet vibrant performance that was reminiscent of the ’90s alternative rock scene. With their laid-back vibe and catchy melodies, the band quickly drew the audience into their world.

One thing that impressed me the most about each band of the night, but especially Marcy Playground, was how much they still preform like how did in 1997. The energy was high from the top of the set, and singer John Wozniak’s smooth voice carried a stellar performance from the band.

The crowd sang along as the band took us through a setlist that consisted of classics like ‘Poppies’ and ‘Saint Joe on the School Bus,’ but the audience really came alive when the guys played their iconic hit ‘Sex & Candy.’ Phones lit up the Lee’s Family Forum as everyone captured the moment where we were able to sing along live with the song we’ve been singing to on the radio for so many years.

Despite the years since their breakout success, Marcy Playground delivered a fresh energy, making it clear that their music still holds up and their fan base remains strong.

EVERCLEAR

Everclear took the stage to a massive standing ovation and started their set with the high energy hit ‘So Much for the Afterglow,’ which had the place rocking and dancing from the start.

Leading us on a nostalgic journey through the 90’s, frontman Art Alexakis brought the heat with a powerful vocal performance that was carried brilliantly by the intensity that the rest of the band brought. The setlist was a mix of classics, including my two favorites ‘Father of Mine’ and ‘I Will Buy You a New Life,’ both accompanied by a loud (but beautiful) vocal performance from the audience.

The band’s sound was tight, with Alexakis’s guitar riffs cutting through the venue, complemented by a solid rhythm section.

Everclear’s ability to blend rock with introspective and meaningful lyrics has always been one of the key things that has made them stand out over the years, and it was on full display, as they tackled themes of love, loss, and resilience. The evening closed with a four-song encore capped off with ‘Santa Monica.’

Everclear’s performance was nothing short of a testament to their lasting legacy in the alternative rock scene. It was a night filled with nostalgia and raw emotion, reminding everyone why these songs continue to resonate today.
