Just One Step From Obliteration: FILTER – with locals Crashing Wayward and Heroine Honey – Rock Brooklyn Bowl At The Linq

HEROINE HONEY:

Cool outfits and cool hair. Honestly, these guys are the main reason I was excited for this show. Heroine Honey is one of my FAVORITE Vegas bands, and it is always an absolute treat to be able to watch them perform. They came right out of the gate swinging for the fences with a blast of their iconic power alternative rock sound. Vocalist Chastity Raper might have THE BEST voice in town. Her range and grit combine to make for such an absolute powerhouse of dynamics. Raper’s high quality performance was met with very solid work from the rest of the band, who delivered an equally powerful and tight show. The band’s sound is of course only enhanced by the dynamic stage presence that they bring to the table. I think Heroine Honey was an amazing choice to open up this show, as the crowd was hooked by them right away, paving the way to a great night of music!

Heroine Honey’s latest release ‘Metanoia’ has garnered the band lots of fans and traction over the past year, and they only continue to get better every time I see them!

CRASHING WAYWARD:

These dudes were a perfect addition to this lineup. Another Vegas band, Crashing Wayward brings a genre-blending sound of modern rock with classic industrial tones. Their sound combined with their high energy performance, makes them SO enjoyable to watch. The vocalist had incredible participation with the crowd, while the rest of the band kept the energy high throughout their set.

I was totally enthralled by how powerful they sounded in this venue, and the rest of the crowd was vibing hard as they were gearing up for a night of great live performances by each band.

The band released their first single ‘Breathe’ in the winter of 2022, and has been on the rise in Vegas and other parts of the world ever since. Shortly after, they released their debut full length album, ‘Listen!’, as well as two singles this year.

FILTER:

Man, I was so stoked for this one! As the lights dimmed for the headliner, the anticipation was through the roof. Filter, the industrial rock pioneers, took the stage and delivered a performance that was as electrifying as it was nostalgic.

Kicking off with their iconic hit ‘You Walk Away,’ the band immediately set the tone for a night of high energy, eerie, and powerful music. Vocalist Richard Patrick, with his unmistakable voice and commanding stage presence, led the group with INSANELY powerful vocals that you could feel in your BONES. His intensity was matched perfectly by the rest of the band, who helped to make the performance engaging and high-energy.

The setlist was a PERFECT blend of fan favorites with newer material. Classics like ‘Take a Picture’ and ‘Jurassitol’ had the crowd singing along in unison, while tracks from their latest album, “The Algorithm,” showcased their ability to evolve while staying true to their roots. The seamless transitions between the old and new kept the audience engaged and energized throughout the night.

Visually, the show was very eerie. The stage setup was both minimalist and striking, with dark blue and green lighting that complemented the music perfectly. Patrick’s interactions with the crowd were personal and engaging, making the experience very intimate. The band’s performance of ‘Welcome to the Fold’ was an awesome moment, with its driving beat and dark, atmospheric tones creating an almost hypnotic effect. Finishing it off with their hit classic, ‘Hey Man Nice Shot,’ the crowd was absolutely CRAVING more. Filter’s ability to combine raw energy with emotional depth was on full display, leaving no doubt that they are still a force to be reckoned with in the rock scene.

This was the first night of the “Just One Step From Obliteration” tour, and Filter is set to continue across the US as this tour continues.
