Hawthorne freaking Heights!!! The emos who get it, get it. This was a show for the books, y’all!

At The Pavilion at Toyota Music Factory on August 26th, This Wild Life, Emery, Cartel, Anberlin and Thursday opened the show for the Irving, TX stop on the 20 Years of Tears tour.

I missed the first two bands unfortunately but made it in time for Cartel.  Cartel put on a solid show ending with a few songs I’ve been listening to for over a decade.

More nostalgia followed when Anberlin came out. Matty Mullins of Memphis May Fire is the new touring lead singer after Stephen Christian announced he’d be stepping down for personal reasons indefinitely. They ended their set with bangers like Godspeed, Day Late Hymn and Feel Good Drag.

Thursday brought out some of their heavy hits as well, getting the crowd going wild!

Hawthorne Heights absolutely crushed their set! The band is still as energized as they were 20 (TWENTY!!!) years ago. The boys blew through new and old, deep cuts like Niki FM.

Of course, it wouldn’t be a HH show without ending on the #1 emo song of all time – Ohio Is For Lovers. Lead singer JT Woodruff came down off the stage and to the barricade to sing part of the song.

I wasn’t up front but found a video of him singing with a young boy @lukelittlemoshkid on Instagram. 10000/10 – one of the best Monday nights ever had!
