Fremont Street in Las Vegas is known for live music and is no stranger to thousands of people gracing its neon-lit path. However, last night Sublime with Rome took to the 3rd Street stage to give locals and tourists a treat with a free show as part of Fremont’s Free Concert Series. While a free concert is always appealing, what made this show more special for fans is it is part of their farewell tour after being together for nearly two decades. The entire block encompassing the 3rd Street stage was overflowing with fans. From the front of the stage there was no apparent end of the gathering.
At 9pm, Derek Stevens, co-owner of The D, Circa, and The Golden Gate casinos took to the stage to thank the fans for their support. When asked how many in attendance were from out of state there was a large roar. When he asked how many Vegas locals were present there was a thunderous cry making apparent the fandom of Sublime with Rome is ever present in Sin City. He continued to engage with the crowd, hyping them up for the moment they had waited hours for… Sublime with Rome to take the stage.
The stage lights came on, fog rolled across the stage, and strategically placed incense bellowed. They opened with April 29th and flowed into Smoke 2 Joints. The crowd turned into an ensemble of their own with a sing-along so loud it was sure to be heard all the way down Fremont Street. The set continued with originals from Sublime with Rome and legendary Sublime songs all resulting in boisterous singing from fans. A true expression of how music moves and can transport you to another time.
Their tour is not yet over as many shows are still slated all over the country with their final show set to be on December 14, 2024, in Denver, Colorado. Though, if you’re in Vegas or plan to visit Vegas next summer, you’re in luck for next year. Derek announced they made a deal with Sublime and Rome (separately) to play during Fremont’s Free Concert Series for the summer of 2025.
