February 20, 2025 – I was not quite sure what to expect for this show, but I can tell you I had a great time! Honestly it is always a fun time surrounded by chill metalheads and excellent music. This band has a giant, devoted fan-base that was eager to see their favorites perform!
Formed in Greenville, South Carolina from the ashes of founding member, Karl Sanders’ previous band, Morriah in the 1990’s, NILE have been slaughtering us all with their brand of technical death metal for decades. They have been a massive influence among many bands that have come after them in the deathcore and death metal generes, respectively. “The Revenge of the Underworld” tour is in support of Nile’s 2024 record, “The Underworld Awaits Us All,” which is their tenth full length record.
The crowd was great – I ran into a couple of cool older men who were stoked to see NILE. I admitted I had not seen them play live before and the guys were so kind and let me know I was in for the best show. It has been a while since I have been to a metal show with a circle pit, but these folks were bringing so much energy into it. My favorite, however, was running into a seasoned metalhead in a wheelchair absolutely rocking out off to the side! And with that I say – see mom, it’s not a phase!
NILE may have finished their US tour this year but be sure to check out their latest 2024 album “The Underworld Awaits Us All” and be on the lookout for the next tour!
