The Saints of Las Vegas played the Copa Room inside the Tuscany Hotel and Casino on Saturday, August 9, 2025.
There will always be great rock and roll in Vegas, and a wide variety of bands bringing it! With the recent closure of Count’s Vamp’d, which was always my favorite venue in Sin City, this rock fan is pleased to see that the Tuscany Hotel and Casino’s Copa Room venue (not to be confused with a similarly-named venue at the Bootlegger restaurant) is picking up much of the rock-based entertainment around the city.
One of the first musicians I befriended when I became part of the Las Vegas music scene many years ago was Brent Muscat, the co-founder and original lead guitarist in Faster Pussycat. His former band, Sin City Sinners, was a favorite of mine thanks to a combination of original tunes and covers, not to mention a ton of special guests. While those days are long gone Mr. Muscat is still rocking Vegas with Saints of Las Vegas, the band he’s had for the past several years. While the lineup has changed a few times over the years, the Saints on this evening included musicians like Muscat’s old Sinners companion Michael “Doc” Ellis and bassist Keith Trombino.
This evening was split into three sets; I unfortunately was a bit under the weather and didn’t get to stick around for the entire show, but what I saw was fantastic. The first set was cover songs spanning a wide variety, ranging from Grand Funk Railroad’s classic 1973 anthem “We’re an American Band” to tunes by the Gin Blossoms. There was even a rendition of “You’re So Vain,” a tune originally recorded by Carly Simon in the early 1970s, but one that Muscat previously covered as a member of Faster Pussycat. The band members were all in good spirits throughout.
The second set mixed things up a bit, bringing in a horn section, with the setlist consisting of Rolling Stones covers. The horns certainly brought a new atmosphere to these oft-covered songs, making them something more than the dime-a-dozen cover versions we’ve gotten elsewhere form so many groups. I did unfortunately have to leave the gig fairly early in the second set due to not feeling my best, but I definitely hope I get to see the collaboration of the Saints and these horns again in the future!
It’s good to see the Tuscany stepping up to give live music a proper venue in Sin City following the closure of Vamp’d, and that Brent Muscat is still doing what he does best, long past the days of Faster Pussycat and Sin City Sinners. This was a fun night all around that impressed audiences longing for their rock and roll fix. You owe it to yourself to catch the Saints live.
