Currently traveling the country on their Fall 2025 tour, California pop punk darlings, The Story So Far, double dipped in Atlanta this past weekend, playing two back-to-back sold-out dates at The Masquerade’s very own Heaven room. (Just across the venue, Oceano played the continued leg of their farewell tour – you can check out ZRockR’s coverage of their Austin show from last month HERE). With fellow bands Neck Deep, Origami Angel, and Pain of Truth, The Story So Far brought old favorites, deep cuts, their biggest hits, their newest tracks, and a lot of emotion to the Peach State.
The only band of their kind on the bill, New York hardcore band, Pain of Truth gave a twenty-minute taste of aggression to the otherwise softly emotional crowd. There was spin-kicking, there was moshing, there were mic grabs, two-steps, breakdowns, you name it, Pain of Truth’s signature old school punk sound came to split the crowd and get them warmed up.
Twinkly guitars and sad lyrics are the trademark accents of Origami Angel’s vibe. The two-piece emo band was the next act to follow on the setlist, marking a softer overall atmosphere than Pain of Truth’s boot-stomping set, but it clearly resonated with the audience. Watching the guitarist and drummer work effortlessly together to keep the music floating strong was impressive. Those two did more with themselves than most bands can do with five members.
The United Kingdom’s darling pop punk boys Neck Deep celebrated a milestone this past year, so it was only fair that they traveled overseas to party in the States for a bit. With the decade anniversary of their cult-beloved album, “Life’s Not Out To Get You” on their heels, the band broke out a set of songs from that record and mixed it in with some tracks off of their newest self titled release. The crowd-surfing was crazy, the push pits were officially open and in business, in fact, it seemed that the energy was so high in the room that we were all neck deep in it.
With a humble entry and some ambient lighting, it was officially the time of the night when a gangly, smiling Parker Cannon walked out on stage and plainly informed the audience, “We’re The Story So Far, thank you for coming out.” There were new tracks such as “Nothing To Say” and “Big Blind” from their 2024 release, “I Want To Disappear”. There were old classics such as “High Regard” and “The Glass”, and there were even deep cuts I hadn’t seen them play in a while like “Framework” and “Bad Luck”. With the same charismatic nonchalance as they’ve carried these past few years, The Story So Far headlined a terrific couple of shows, rounding the set list out with their most famous and seldom-played track, “Clairvoyant”.
The Story So Far is still playing shows all over the country, so if they stop by a city near you, go ahead and grab some tickets. You won’t be disappointed.
