November 8, 2025 – From the wreckage of a doomed train, destroyed by Antarctica’s favorite residents, metal’s favorite dinosaur returns… that’s right, GOR-GOR is back, and Gwar’s bringing him on the road! With their new album on the horizon, Gwar’s been running all over America letting the world know to hail the fearsome Gor-Gor. Featuring a gory new set of nasty special effects, a lineup of incredible opening bands, and enough deep cuts to keep fans of all ages happy, let’s unwrap the incredible night that was… the Return of Gor-Gor Tour!

Blood Vulture was the opening introduction to the crazy night. Self proclaimed “vampire metal”, the doomy, gloomy, moody rock band certainly made a good impression on the crowd. A promising act with a solid set of heavy tones and dramatic lyrics, some may say that their place on the Gwar tour lineup is strange. ZRockR is here to tell you it’s a perfect fit. If you’re into bands like Ghost, check em out.

“Dwarves are the best old guy punk band around!” proclaimed the band Dwarves to a cheering crowd. To be honest, they’re not wrong. Dwarves were one of the most anticipated sets of the night. For a bunch of older dudes who have put out more records than most can count, they were the most energetic rockers of the night, bouncing off of the walls to songs like “Back Seat of My Car”, “Pimp”, and “Everybody’s Girl”. I watched a guy break his leg in the pit and helped drag him out of the venue. What a wild set.

Helmet – the band that laid the ground work for 90s nu-metal, one of the heaviest doom rock bands I’ve ever heard, a massive weight of distorted riffage and an absolute behemoth of headbanging tracks – was the penultimate band of the night. Admittedly, it was an odd choice to have a slower, more serious band such as Helmet open up for a band that loves its theatrics, but the straight-forward motion of hefty songs and whiplash-inducing riffs only made those theatrics feel stronger.

And then the moment that Texas had been waiting for… Gwar hit the stage with chaos, ruin, plenty of fluids, and tighter jokes than most stand-up comics have. The puppets and animatronics were off the walls insane, spurting more blood, goop, and crazy technical effects than I’d ever seen before. The setlist was one of the best that the city’s ever seen, featuring all of the deep cuts and classics that Gwar’s biggest fans have come to expect. Check it out below!

  1. The Great Circus Train Disaster
  2. Filthy Flow
  3. Metal Metal Land
  4. Saddam a Go-Go
  5. Crack in the Egg
  6. Bring Back the Bomb
  7. Hail, Genocide!
  8. Fuck This Place
  9. Womb With a ViewLot Lizard
  10. Bad Bad Men

  12. Tyrant King
  13. America Must Be Destroyed

And of course, the moment that the crowd had been waiting for: the giant dinosaur battle
on stage. Just as epic and monumental as you’d think it would be. It was genuinely one of the
greatest Gwar shows that Alamo City has ever seen, and we can not wait for them to come back.
