I saw Kate Clover at Punk Rock Bowling back in 2024, and I’ve gotta say, this is one I am super excited to see on the lineup for the Punk Rock Museum Anniversary show. The rock n roll world can be a bit of a boy’s club, and one of the amazing thing about punk rock is how women in the scene get embraced. It’s definitely cool to pick someone else’s brain, and I’m glad we got a chance to pick hers! If you aren’t familiar with Kate, you need to check her out!
What was the first punk song or band you heard that made you feel like this was the music you wanted to pursue?
I was young when I felt a strong connection to music. My mom would play Ella Fitzgerald and her voice resonated with me. She sounded so raw and authentic. That was the standard.
What song do you wish you had written?
There are many, but I’d like to think that the songs would turn out differently if others had written them. Music is magic, and the experiences we go through to summon songs is mysterious. That’s the art form.
Are there any Vegas bands that have caught your ear?
There’s a Las Vegas musician named Cromm Fallon. He’s had various projects over the years and I’m always intrigued by what he makes.
What is your favorite artifact in the museum? If you had to donate a piece of your collection, what do you think the museum needs?
The Joe Strummer display is pretty incredible. To see his handwritten lyrics and personal artifacts felt like he was in the room. I’d love to see an exhibit on the influence of the early LA punk scene. It was so creative and free. I owe a lot to that era of punk rock. I’d also like to see an exhibit of Women in Punk.
What’s next up your sleeve after this celebration?
I’m heading out on a Southwest tour with Jenny Don’t and the Spurs. It’s going to be a great one!
