Sebastian Bach Invades Zia Records on Rainbow!

Sebastian Bach made an in-store appearance at Zia Records on Rainbow on Friday, July 19, 2024, to promote the release of his new album, CHILD WITHIN THE MAN.

What a long, strange trip it’s been for Sebastian Bach. As the frontman of Skid Row, the debaucherous lead singer was at the forefront of all things rock in an ever-changing landscape. Although it seemed like Skid Row’s rising star could do no wrong, turmoil within the band resulted in them parting ways with Bas in the mid 1990s. But that was far from the end of the story! Mr. Bach made a triumphant comeback as a solo artist, continuing to tour and record, rocking the world all over again. 2024 has seen the release of CHILD WITHIN THE MAN, Bas’ first solo album in a decade. And it’s been getting rave reviews across the board!

Upon hearing Mr. Bach would be doing an in-store to promote his new album, I knew I’d be there. Zia Records is one of my absolute favorite stores in the Vegas Valley for all things music, movies, and pop culture alike, so it’s no surprise it’s a place I spend a lot of my time. An Arizona-based chain that’s been in business since 1980, Zia has been serving Vegas since 2005, and now has two stores serving Sin City. This event took place at their Rainbow location.

I arrived at Zia just after 4:00 PM (the signing was stated to go from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM). Even when I’d gotten there, there were already plenty of people lined up, with lines of people staggered between the product rows. Vinyl copies of the new album were set up behind the counter, with plenty for any would-be patron to purchase to get Bas to sign, though I heard later they’d sold out of CD copies due to popular demand!

At approximately 5:00 PM, Sebastian took his place at a table in the store, as the line began moving along. Zia generally does a pretty solid job with their events, moving things along quickly, but also allowing time for the meet and greets to be pretty solid and memorable, never making them feel “rushed.” Sebastian took the time to chat with every person and, of course, sign their album. While the signage said Bas would only sign one additional item which supposedly needed to be one of the first two Skid Row albums, he didn’t seem to have issues signing additional items and other things, including additional Skid Row releases he played on and his other solo albums. He even took the time to praise my battle jacket and my selection of patches, much to my delight!

While the event was scheduled to end at 7:00 PM, the line was long enough (and never really stopped growing) that it ended up going to about 7:30 PM, with Bas taking the time to talk to and sign stuff for everyone, including some items for the Zia staff when the public had wrapped up. The festivities even ended with Bach autographing a donut of all things, just so he could say that he did so, much to the humor of those that were still in the store.

Sebastian Bach remains one of rock’s most iconic and entertaining figures. And this was a rare opportunity to see him up close and personal in an intimate setting and share a few choice words while getting items autographed to add to the collection! Don’t forget to pick up Bas’ latest effort, CHILD WITHIN THE MAN, which is one of 2024’s best rock albums, and keep an eye on the Zia Records website and social media for future in-store events!
