JINJER wreck the HOBLV with Born of Osiris & Hanabie

October 11, 2024-It’s a Friday night in Vegas, and ROCTOBER is officially in full effect. It only felt right to add on this banger of a show onto our books. JINJER are currently on what looks like a pre-album touring cycle since they have a record in the chamber about ready to be released, but as I mentioned in my pre show article, this band has been absolutely relentless in their touring and getting in front of fans. This is my first time seeing them, and I couldn’t be more excited to document them. I have literally never heard anything bad about them! On this run they brought “Harajuku-core” all female Hanabie and one of my familiar favorites, Born of Osiris.

Born Of Osiris

This band always puts on a solid show no matter what slot they have. From headline spots to opening ones, they always give it their all. My only real complaint with this set was the lighting. It was such a difficult set to photograph, though it did look really cool visually. I wasn’t expecting Born of Osiris to be first on this bill, but maybe that’s a slight fan bias on my part since I’m generally not too familiar with the other opening band on the bill, and I have seen Born of Osiris so many times over the last 15 years. But that’s okay. As I said, these guys get crowds going no matter what their place on the bill is, and they’re always worth showing up for.

Hanabie

I have no idea what “Harajuku-core” is, but it seems to be a newly created subgenre that mixes metalcore, hardcore, and harajuku aesthetics. Straight out of the gate, myself and a good chunk of the crowd were blown away by this band! They blend metalcore and kpop like vocals to create something I didn’t know I needed. All of the girls performed with such electric energy, and I just thought it was so cool to see them all run and jump around! This whole set had the crowd in full force of excitement within the first song and there aren’t many bands of this caliber, on this kind of tour that have that effect on people I don’t think. I also want to point out just how incredible the musicianship is with this band. They gave their all, played their instruments well, and not once during their set did I see any sign of a slowdown! I could have watched them play for hours and hours. 

I will be adding this band to my watch list, and I hope to see more of them in the future.

Jinjer

When Jinjer finally took the stage, the stage itself looked pretty bare, but this isn’t a complaint in the slightest. I liked seeing that they had so much space for them to roam on. Eight vertical backlit screens with imagery that lined up perfectly with the music were on display through the entire set. Huge props to whoever did the designing on those screens because they looked so cool, and they really complimented the band’s energy. 

From start to finish, Jinjer mesmerized the crowd. Tatiana Shmayluk delivers an incredible range of vocal talent that really is a show of how fresh and dynamic metal as a genre has grown to be. Her clean vocals are chillingly beautiful, and her growls are terrifyingly intense. Throughout the set, Tatiana expressed her gratitude and thankfulness for the fans in the crowd that came out to see them, several times putting the microphone to the crowd while fans roared with excitement. 

Jinjer played two new tracks on this tour cycle, and I have to say, I’m really looking forward to getting my hands on the new album when it comes out.

This is the second show I’ve seen this week where the bands are ending their main tour here in Las Vegas. JINJER will also be playing the Aftershock and Mayhem festivals! Born of Osiris and Hanabie are both on the Mayhem Festival lineup as well, but I don’t believe they’re playing Aftershock, (Goddamn those lineups are STACKED. So definitely check them out if you’re going!)

I am also going to point out just how incredibly diverse this lineup is a whole. There seemed to be a little bit of everything, so no matter what type of metal you fancy most, there was definitely a bit of something to satisfy it.
