If there is one tour you do not want to miss this year, it is the Goo Goo Dolls’ Summer Anthem Tour! These guys made their second night tour stop here at Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, TX on July 16th and are just as incredible live as you would expect them to be.I have not had that much fun at an arena show in quite some time. I am so glad I can check this one off my bucket list!
Kicking off the night, Dashboard Confessional played an awesome hour-long set. Chris Carrabba started us out with an acoustic solo moment while the rest of the band came out to join him for the rest. I love going to these bigger shows where a ton of the crowd already rock with the openers and know their catalogs as well. Getting to hear “Vindicated” live healed a little part of seventeen-year-old Jess.

The freaking Goo Goo Dolls! I honestly never even dreamed these dudes would still be touring by the time I was able to take off work early on a Wednesday but here we are. I’m not lying, if you go to their show, close your eyes and listen, you will swear you were transported back in time twenty years ago. That’s how much John Rzeznik’s vocals have not changed.
Now, I don’t want to spoil this setlist for you but if you’re a “Dizzy up the Girl” fan like I am, this is the show for you. You can expect to hear all the hits, all the deep cuts and potentially a sick cover of a Tom Petty song in a packed twenty-five-song set. You can also expect plenty of hilarious banter from John. The dude really loves to yap about Sabrina Carpenter and how much his daughter loves her. I think he is secretly a fan, as well, but that’s just me. You’ll just need to buy a ticket to the show to see what I mean.
