If you go to an Aminé show on his Tour de Dance tour, you’re going to have an amazing time, obviously, but you’ll also leave feeling beautiful! He’s going to make sure of it. Aminé is one of the creative lyricists I’ve come across but his whole tour aesthetic is so colorful and vibrant and fun! From the merch to the stage screen designs, you’re going to get a full inspired experience.
Opening the show was DJ Lido. He got the crowd hype with some groovy remixes infused with current sounds and plenty of early 2000’s pop. My favorite mix was with JoJo’s “Baby It’s You.” A few tunes in, Lido was joined on stage by who I presume to be Aminé’s sound guy (I don’t know if that’s an accurate title so my apologies to that man, I missed his name). The set was so fun and had me moving for a solid 45 minutes.
Aminé brought out some absolute fire flames in the opening of his set with “Vacay”(my personal favorite song),“13MOS” and “My Peoples.” One thing that man is gonna do is run around the stage, let me tell you! Amine has energy and stamina for days. He took a quick break between every few songs to shoot the shit with the crowd or play a skit on the big LED screen behind him. One thing he loves to do at shows is make the crowd feel good so he would have everyone repeat after him when he said,“YOU’RE BEAUTIFUL”the crowd would roar back“I KNOW!”and I thought that was so cute.
Throughout the set, Amine performed songs from his massive, almost 10-year discography. At one point, he picked a fan to come up on stage with him to sign the“tour pants”and get a selfie. There were a couple groups of fans in the audience that received shoutouts from the rapper, the most memorable being the group dressed in banana costumes. He joked about doing stand up comedy and asked the crowd if he should do more R&B“shit.”
The last song before the encore was “Caroline” and everyone had their cell phone flashlights up and on. The energy in that room was crazy! After a very brief exit from the stage , Aminé came back out with special surprise guest, Leon Bridges!! The two performed a shortened version of Amine’s “Arc de Triomphe.”
Damn, I really hope Aminé comes back to Dallas show. That was one of the hypest shows I’ve been to in a long time. If you wanna feel real beautiful and have yourself a goodnight, be sure to catch Amine out on the road this fall.
