Saturday, October 8, Close Enemies is set to rock the night at The Iridium in the heart of New York City, Manhattan. Two weeks ago, the band’s publicist, reached out to me to see if I was able to capture the band’s performance, which is set to happen during my days off from my regular job. I couldn’t say no. With the legendary Aerosmith officially hanging up their touring hats, I realized that seeing Aerosmith members perform live again can only be possible through their various solo projects and side bands. You know, the bass player Tom Hamilton, who created the legendary bass line from decades of making music.

As the band stepped onto the stage, greeted by thunderous applause from the audience, it was evident that Close Enemies was poised to deliver an unforgettable performance. The lineup includes Tom Hamilton on bass, Trace Foster and Peter Stroud—both known for their work with Sheryl Crow and Don Henley—on guitars, Tony Brock, recognized for his contributions to The Babys and Rod Stewart, on drums, and the talented Chasen Hampton taking on vocal duties. Kicking off the performance with “Rain,” the band established an engaging atmosphere that resonated throughout their set. Charismatic frontman Chasen captured the audience’s attention instantly with his powerful vocals and commanding stage presence. Meanwhile, the rest of the band delivered precise, driving rhythms that propelled each song with relentless energy. Music embodies vitality, and Close Enemies ignited the passion within their audience.

Trace and Peter showcased an exceptional degree of synchronicity and teamwork that enhanced every track. Their remarkable guitar performances and collaborative chemistry were flawless, bringing the songs the richness and energy they warranted. They skillfully intertwined their contributions, interacting seamlessly and blending their unique styles into a cohesive sonic experience. Tony’s powerful drumming created a robust, rhythmic foundation, while Tom’s unique bassline effortlessly blended with the band’s dynamic and raw sound. Serving as the backbone of the group, Tom’s playing style and tone complement the core of each piece beautifully. His performance tonight, characterized by the relentless motion of all ten fingers across every beat and measure, can only be described as a striking fusion of intensity and grace.

The band has crafted a distinctive sound that blends innovation with nostalgic elements. Their remarkable melodic talent enriches each track, infusing depth and texture into their performances. If you’re a fan of The Black Crowes, you should definitely check out Close Enemies.

My name is Louie T. Galvez, and I am based in New York City. I am a dedicated landscape and fitness photographer. Growing up in the Philippines with four sisters and five brothers, our weekends were filled with karaoke sessions alongside our parents, which instilled in me a deep love for music across all genres. Although moving to the United States was not initially part of my dreams, in 2022, I made the decision to capture the artistry of the musicians and bands I grew up listening to. For my photography, I utilize a Canon EOS R6 II, always equipped with two camera bodies. My preferred lenses for concert photography include the Canon RF mount 24-70mm f/2.8, 70-200mm f/2.8, and the Samyang 14mm f/2.8.
