The Darkness brought their Dreams on Toast tour down south to Dallas, TX and it was absolutely the most fun show I could have possibly imagined. These guys are pure rock n’ roll! From stage slides to headstands to sexy riffs to hilarious crowd work, you will have anything but a boring time. And with a whopping 2.5 million monthly listeners, I knew this room would be packed and it was!

Getting the diverse age-ranged crowd amped up for the headliner was rocker Mark Daly all the way from Cork, Ireland. This guy and his band were so much fun and have the best energy! Mark’s vocals were exceptionally impressive, and I thoroughly enjoyed the drummer and guitar solos. Go ahead and listen to 2024 album “Devil’s Arms” and check out Mark’s latest release “Crazy” for a real good time. I would also like to note that I had the pleasure of meeting Mark out on the patio while I stepped out for a smoke and he is the nicest dude ever! Will definitely go see him again if he’s ever back down in Texas.

With the audience nice and rowdy, Brit rockers The Darkness took to the stage and delivered some outrageous performances. We got the party started with bangers “Rock & Roll Party Cowboy” from their newest album Dreams on Toast and “Growing on Me” from their debut album “Permission to Land.” In between every couple of songs, lead singer Justin Hawkins would take a few minutes to banter and joke with the audience and encourage participation in singing along and goofy dancing. I have to say, a room full of boomers (no hate, honest!) really surprised me with their willingness to let go and have fun!

The Darkness played a solid hour and a half set, weaving through their two- decade-long catalog. After performing one of my favorite songs, “Heart Explodes,” these guys gave the audience a special surprise with a cover of Celine Dion’s “Power of Love.” That is something I never saw coming but have to say I was very into it.

Coming to the end of the crazy Sunday evening, The Darkness played a few more songs before getting to their biggest hit. The room lit up as Hawkins bantered a bit more. Someone in the crowd held up a sign that said they got married to “I Believe in a Thing Called Love” and the frontman dedicated the song to the lovely couple. Phones went up to record, people were dancing and singing. It was an excellent 10/10 time to be had.

The Darkness are wrapping up their North American leg of the Dreams on Toast tour this month but don’t worry, there are still a few shows left: LA, San Fran, Boise, Portland, Vancouver, Seattle, SLC and Denver you still have time to snag your tickets! Following this leg, the band will be taking the tour overseas to Australia and New Zealand from February to March of 2026. Tickets: www.thedarknesslive.com
