The Moby Dicks Led Zeppelin Tribute Sells Out the Tuscany Copa Room!

The Moby Dicks played the Copa Room at the Tuscany Hotel and Casino on Saturday, March 28, 2026.

The Tuscany’s Copa Room continues to book superb rock and roll entertainment, be it local, national, or international. Following the closure of Count’s Vamp’d last summer, this venue has picked up many of the shows that would’ve taken place there. A regular staple at Vamp’d was the Moby Dicks, which is an all-star quintet devoted to keeping the music of Led Zeppelin alive. Thanks to Mike, Brian, Mitch, Grayson, and everyone at the Tuscany for keeping rock alive in Sin City. It was my first time catching the band since Vamp’d closed.

The Moby Dicks, formerly known as the Zep Set, have had a few member changes over the years, but in recent years the lineup has usually consisted of drummer Brian Tichy, bassist Phil Soussan, guitarist Christian Brady, vocalist Chas West, and keyboardist Gregg Fox. All these musicians have extensive resumes in their own rights, but it’s great to see them united by their love of Led Zeppelin music.

This Saturday night show was advertised as doors opening at 8:00 and the show starting at 8:30, but unfortunately the show didn’t start until closer to 9:00. An early start time is a must for the Moby Dicks; their extended jams are legendary. Vamp’d gigs always booked the group with an opening band which always puzzled me given how long the Dicks perform, but I was pleased to see this Tuscany gig was only the Dicks, giving them ample time to do their thing. Did I mention it was a sold out show, jam packed from wall to wall? I did see plenty of folks who couldn’t get in for the gig peeking in through the glass. The Copa Room is a fantastic, small, intimate venue, but it’s nights like this that I wish the Tuscany had a larger performing venue for rock bands. I’m looking forward to Robby Krieger and Anvil playing there in the coming months, but hope the venue can accommodate them and the crowds they’ll surely bring in.

There’s not a music-listening soul in the civilized world that hasn’t heard of Led Zeppelin. No matter who you are or what your tastes may be, you’ve heard their music at least once. Whether you’re a die-hard fan, a casual fan, or not a fan at all, you know who they are. It’s not uncommon for bands to cover Zep tunes. It’s not uncommon for full-on Zep tribute bands to represent the band’s catalogue. But there’s a reason I keep going back to Moby Dicks shows. These guys play with passion, from hits to deep cuts, from straight covers to extended jams, and even throwing in some crowd interaction, they’re the real deal.

A Moby Dicks show has something for everyone. More casual fans will appreciate the inclusion of several of the band’s hits, but the die-hard fans will be pleased to know that these guys take the plunge and unleash songs you’re unlikely to hear anywhere else. Any band can play the hits… but when’s the last time you heard “Carouselambra?” Perhaps most importantly, these guys know what they’re doing, not afraid to go into extended jams and do justice to the amount of energy Led Zeppelin were known for displaying on a live stage. And although Zep was a four-piece band back in the day, these guys have a keyboard player to give the stage a fuller sound, filling gaps a four-piece bands might not be able to do.

But for me, the highlight of any Moby Dicks song is the performance of Brian Tichy, one of the few men I feel is worthy to occupy the late John “Bonzo” Bonham’s drum stool. He’s never content to settle for any venue’s house drum kit, always bringing his own massive pieces of equipment, complete with giant gong in the back! Much like an actual Led Zeppelin concert from back in the day, the lengthy drum solo on “Moby Dick” is always a highlight, with Tichy doing his thing for over 10 minutes! This was time for other band members to go out to the casino floor to smoke, or to head over to the bar, and return to the stage with time to spare. That’s why I love these guys. They spare no expense and hold nothing back! Tichy remains one of the hardest working men in rock and roll; his new project, Led By Vultures, just released their first single (on which he sings and plays guitar!)

Rock fans who love Led Zeppelin music have many options if they want to hear a tribute band doing these songs live, but a Moby Dicks show is hard to top. Here are five guys who love Led Zep, sharing it with audiences in the biggest and boldest way possible. No Zeppelin fan should pass up an opportunity to catch a Moby Dicks gig, as was beautifully demonstrated on this evening at the Tuscany’s Copa Room.
