The Bones and Cyanide played the Copa Room at the Tuscany Hotel on Saturday, August 23, 2026.
The Copa Room at the Tuscany Hotel and Casino remains one of the best places in Las Vegas to continue catching live rock and roll gigs. As always, I extend my thanks to everyone there, including Mike, Brian, Grayson, and Mitch, for doing their part to keep live rock alive in Sin City, in a time when things have never been more uncertain.
Doors opened for this gig at 7:30 PM, with the first of the two acts starting at 8:00 PM (thank you for starting this show at a decent hour!) The Bones took the stage, with Patrick Vitalgiano reminding audiences why he remains one of Vegas’ most eccentric, charismatic, and entertainment frontmen, with a memorable performance consisting entirely of original songs, with only a single exception at the end of the set. On guitar, as has been the case the last several gigs, was Stoney Curtis, a man who never ceases to amaze when it comes to the instrument, whether he’s playing rock, the blues, or anything in between. One of the biggest (and most welcome) surprises of the evening was the band’s closing song; a cover of the classic Prince tune “Purple Rain.” I love this band and everything they’ve unleased on Sin City for the past decade plus, and their hour-long set demonstrated this beautifully.
Cyanide is another personal favorite here in Vegas, with frontman Robert Hussey conjuring the look and the sound of the old Sunset Strip days of glam and sleaze better than anyone else. He’s always kept an assortment of Vegas’ best players close at hand to take audiences on an odyssey back to the Decade of Decadence, and that was no exception here. Mr. Hussey also plays in tributes to Poison, Motley Crue, and Iron Maiden, and is exceptional in them all, but I’m also pleased to see him cranking out original tunes that sound like they could’ve come straight out of the 80s.
Rob came out firing on all cylinders, with that set of unrivaled pipes front and center. When this guy takes the stage, the dance floor feels up quickly, and even I wasn’t immune to this, rocking out front and center. While the set was dominated primarily with Hussey’s Cyanide originals, he did fine time to sneak in songs from many other celebrated rock bands, including Metallica. I don’t care what this guy’s singing. I’d go watch him sing the phone book. He’s that good.
My only complaint with the evening is the somewhat imbalanced length of the sets. The Bones played for one hour. This is the perfect length for a set if you’re playing with another band. But Cyanide played a full 20+ song set. This would be the perfect length of a set if Cyanide was the only band on the bill (and believe me, I would rather have had one night of the Bones headlining and one night of Cyanide headlining). If you’re sharing the stage/coheadlining, play a mid-length set. If you’re the only band, then play a full set. Las Vegas may be the city that never sleeps… but its people, myself included, certainly need to. This is not a stab at the band and/or the venue (both of whom I adore); just a personal observation.
The Bones and Cyanide are two of my favorite groups in Vegas, and this was a killer double header featuring both bands in fine form. If you want live rock and roll, the Tuscany’s Copa Room is the ideal spot, and these are two acts worth catching.
