Chicano Batman with special guest, Lido Pimienta rock Brooklyn Bowl!

April 19, 2024- Chicano Batman & special guest, Lido Pimienta packed the Brooklyn Bowl this past Friday evening. A shimmery backdrop on the stage with complimenting lights provided a radiance of positive energy for both sets.

Lido Pimienta is a Colombian/Canadian musician, singer, and songwriter.  On stage this night she described herself as just liking to write songs about being a girl and doing whatever the F she wants. In between songs there were bits of explanations about her own culture. The crowd clapped and cheered for her throughout the set. She embodies energy that is unmatched, and is clearly unapologetic about who she is and where she comes from. I love that.

Lido Pimienta’s last album, “Miss Columbia” was released in 2020 and can be found everywhere you listen to music. For more information about her, head on over to her website and check her out! https://lidopimienta.com/

Chicano Batman is a name that I personally had never heard before picking this assignment up. But the band seemed to immediately grab all the energy in the crowd. They radiated that positivity back to the crowd in this almost serene exchange all evening. The band has great chemistry on stage, and they can be seen vibing together the whole set. They mix sounds from rock, psychedelic soul, funk, indie, and prog to deliver something unique and interesting.

“The four members of Chicano Batman deliver cohesive performances that are a kaleidoscope of references, personal histories, and musical exploration. Born of Latin roots, their work crosses over into the pop music mainstream as Tropicalia meets classic rock & soul with a modern poeticism and an ear for the new. Their work is a jubilant collision of the intentional and unintentional— danceable and retro, yet fresh and full of experimentation.”

“Invisible People” was released in 2020 and can be found on their website, https://chicanobatman.com/ along with lots more goodies. Chicano Batman will be consistently on tour well into the fall, so definitely go check them out if it strikes your interest!
