107.3 Alt CLE Presents: EMO ORCHESTRA featuring ESCAPE THE FATE at TempleLive Cleveland Masonic
On a brisk evening in April, the historic TempleLive Cleveland Masonic hosted a unique musical event that promised an unforgettable night: the EMO ORCHESTRA featuring ESCAPE THE FATE. Entering the venue flowed an excited, bustling crowd pressing forward through a chilled Lake Erie breeze. Their excitement contrasting enough torn denim, eyeliner, wallet chains and black fabric to shut down every Hot Topic in Northeast Ohio.
With the historic architecture of the Masonic Hall as a vast moody backdrop, Escape the Fate took the stage with a fiery presence, diving into a set that balanced classic anthems with new tracks. The orchestral arrangements did not disappoint, with stringed bows dancing furiously in the background, elevating each heart-twisting chord in perfect balance to the intricate plaster decorations of the theater’s ornate ceiling. The emotion swept through the room, particularly on hits like “This War Is Ours” and their newest release “Dearly Departed”.
Lead vocalist Craig Mabbitt floated across the stage, posting himself like a lighthouse at center stage guiding the crowd through their well-rehearsed choruses. His charismatic smile flashing as he sang beaming brightly as the lyrics carried the orchestral delight into the seats below, dashing layers of angst, joy and half-forgotten memories across the crowd. Their smiles could clearly be seen in the darkness as they crooned, heads thrown back, driving every word into the darkness above.
The flow and balance of the setlist created a perfect mood between the band and the audience. Craig was in fine form, frequently urging the audience to sing along, later calling them to the front of the stage to slow dance to a masterful cover of If It Means A Lot To You by A Day to Remember. The stage was set with dramatic lighting that shifted with the mood of each song, complementing the music’s emotional peaks and valleys. The energy of the band, combined with the visual effects, made for a compelling live music experience.
The EMO ORCHESTRA featuring ESCAPE THE FATE at TempleLive Cleveland Masonic was a testament to the enduring appeal of emo music and its capability to evolve. This concert was not just a performance; it was an emotional journey that resonated well with all who attended. For those looking for a concert that combines classic emo with a twist of orchestral elegance, ESCAPE THE FATE’s current tour is a must-see.
