Scary Kids Scaring Kids – TREES – Dallas, TX

Scary Kids Scaring Kids kicked off their latest tour this past Saturday 8/10 at Trees in Dallas, TX. Their opener Set To Stun kicked ass getting the crowd riled up!

This is a band I’ve enjoyed since high school and when they played “Faces” from their 2007 self-titled album, I was hyped af. They played most of their newest songs – a few shouts from the crowd begging for older work like “Bulletproof” and “What’s Up Now” which would have potentially cured my little emo heart. BUT I respect the bands’ reluctance and perseverance to play their newer works and get people on board with where they are headed.

In the middle of their set, the bassist suffered an instrumental malfunction when the strap came loose. Lead vocalist Tyson came to the rescue – the whole band kept the performance going while he attempted to help secure the strap. We love a band that can roll with any punch thrown their way.

Toward the end of the show Tyson came out to perform a song in the crowd. One thing I appreciate about these smaller metal/rock shows is that the audience is always mad respectful (save a couple hooligans). While I tracked him in the crowd, I noticed one character hardcore dancing and didn’t even realize Tyson had run into him.
