Marilyn Manson Triumphantly Returns To Vegas, Opening For 5FDP, at the MGM Grand Garden Arena

The clock is ticking and nearing 8:00pm on Sunday, September 8, 2024, at the Garden Arena at MGM in Las Vegas, Nevada. A large black sheet is cloaking the stage. The arena is brimming with fans eagerly waiting for it to fall revealing the legend himself, Marilyn Manson.

As the curtain dropped, seven lights depicting the inverted Cross of Lorraine hung as a backdrop illuminating the stage. The simplicity an homage to his prominence as a musician while setting a tone of intimacy. Theatrics and over the top aesthetics were not needed as his presence was merely enough to literally set the stage. His continual power and influence was still ever-present, to myself included.

Personally, I was taken back to my teenage years where pictures of Manson collaged my walls. The time he spent owning the stage took away any other thoughts or worries that ail my adult mind. That sentiment was apparent throughout the thousands of fans gathered to share in the experience. Additionally, his genuine appreciation of his fans came out multiple times throughout his set. He was joined on stage by Matt Montgomery (AKA Piggy D) on bass, Gil Sharone on drums, Taylor Bates on guitar, and Reba Meyers (the birthday girl) on guitar.

The set included a mixture of songs ranging his extensive discography. Before the final song of the set, “The Beautiful People”, the notorious American flag from Antichrist Superstar draped the back of the stage.

Set List:

  1. We Know Where You Fucking Live
  2. Disposable Teens
  3. Angel With the Scabbed Wings
  4. This Is the New Shit
  5. Say10

  7. Tourniquet
  8. mOBSCENE
  9. The Dope Show
  10. As Sick as the Secrets Within

Mary is a concert and event photographer. Born and raised just outside the Mile High City, her photography career (Spooky Shutter) began in Denver, Colorado. While growing up, her family exposed her to all genres of music, and it became a staple in her life. Coincidingly, her mother was very much into photography. Mary picked up her first camera at four years old and her parents embraced her natural talent. To this day she credits her love of music and photography to her family. She is passionate about capturing the raw energy, passion, and connections with fans during live shows, describing it as “art capturing art”. While she now calls Sin City home, she travels back to Denver and across the country to shoot shows and events wherever she is needed. Photography is her staple, but when she’s not shooting, she can be found spending time with her family (including her “army of animals”), writing, playing music, crafting oddities, doing animal advocacy work, or working on her hearse with her husband.
