When you ask people what the most influential and formative death metal album of all
time is, it can get heated, divisive, and ultimately end in a crazy argument. Truly, it’s hard to pick
which band and which album really is the most formative, but there are definitely those whose
work could be listed among the greatest and most important. One of those albums being the 1990
masterpiece, Cause of Death, from the band Obituary. Well, it’s been 35 years since that album
released, and to celebrate their roots, Obituary is hitting the North American road this Spring to
showcase their seminal album. The tour kicks off right here in San Antonio, Texas on April 18th
at The Aztec Theater.
And they’re bringing friends with them
Accompanying the legendary band is a mixed bag of various groups who have grown
close to the Obituary crew in recent years. This list of special guests includes one of the pinnacle
names in modern grindcore, Nails, kings of hardcore, Terror, the cowboy thrashers in Spirit
World, and English female-fronted punk band, Pest Control. New bands supporting classic acts,
hearing such legendary songs as Infected and Chopped in Half, seeing old death metal guys get
spin-kicked by spry young hardcore kids, if any of this is your thing, then you’re going to want
to be in attendance. This is a show you cannot miss. Be there, and get your tickets as soon as
possible, as they are moving fast.
