Fans of the Canadian cult TV/Web Series Trailer Park Boys loaded into Vegas Venue, The Space, for “Randy’s Cheeseburger Picnic” for a night of crude humor, inside jokes and yes, cheeseburgers.
Pat Roach, who has played assistant trailer park supervisor “Randy Bobandy” since the show’s inception in 2001, took the stage in character wearing his famous “uniform”; no shirt and way too tight khaki pants. Pat, uhh.. Randy, (The Trailer Park Boys cast NEVER breaks character when in public) led the sold-out crowd through silly games, such as a biggest belly contest, sing alongs, and toast to fan favorite, the late Mr. Lahey (played by John Dunsworth) who was Randy’s boss and love interest on the show.
Randy offered little in the way of insight or behind the scenes information about the show. He was there strictly to lead the rambunctious crowd in a night of celebration of the Trailer Park Boys. He donned his alter ego costume as “Smokey”, who prostitutes himself for cheeseburgers and Dairy Queen coupons. He mentioned fan favorite characters such as J-Roc and Bubbles, much to the delight of the crowd, who screamed out catch phrases from the show throughout the evening. Backed by his producer Sheldon, Randy kept the fans entertained with a wrestling match, and give aways (yes, he gave aways cheeseburgers, from Wendy’s!) and even auctioned off his tighty whitey underwear.

The Trailer Park Boys started as a low budget cable access show in Newfoundland, Canada and has grown to include 12 televisions seasons, 3 movies, multiple web series and podcasts, and its own website. After getting picked up by Netflix in its 7th season, the cast found worldwide fame. With its raunchy humor and stunningly stupid situations, the show has become legendary for its fans, who know all the lines by heart and have gatherings and viewings around North America. It even featured guest stars such as Sebastian Bach, Alex Lifeson, and Snoop Dog. The little show that was thrown on the schedule as an afterthought became a juggernaut for the cast. And they, much like Pat Roach, take every opportunity to give back by making appearances all over North America.
The evening concluded with Randy doing a meet and great, allowing fans to take pictures of themselves caressing his pronounced belly. If you’ve never watched The Trailer Park Boys, you may have been confused and thought the evening was rather odd. If you are a fan, such as myself, well, it was odd and confusing and incredible all in one. But that’s why we love the show.
