Billy Idol: Hot In The City – Fontainebleau

August 28, 2026 – I didn’t expect to see Billy Idol for the first time this week, but when an opportunity like this lands in your lap, you take it. This was my first time ever at Fontainebleau as well.

Idol began the show with a rendition of “Viva Las Vegas” on the first night of a 5-night exclusive engagement here at the Fontainebleau. The entire production from start to finish was a whirlwind of stories, costume changes, the many guitars of Steve Stevens, and the delightful backup vocals of the talented Jessica Childress and Kitten Kuroi.

After the 90-minute show, everyone on stage was introduced as credits scrolled on a screen in the background, which thanked everyone from tour manager to truck driver, giving some insight into the many people it takes to make a special performance like this happen.

The setlist included all the hits you’d expect to hear–“Rock The Cradle”, “Mony Mony” (which is actually a cover of a 1968 song by Tommy James and the Shondells), “Eyes Without A Face”, “Rebel Yell”, “Dancing With Myself”, and “White Wedding”. There were stories about the Rolling Stones, Idol’s arrival in New York City in 1981, which prompted the writing of the song “Hot In The City”, the fact that “Love Unchained” hadn’t been performed since the 90s until tonight, and the guitar solos of the very talented Steve Stevens, who has been collaborating with Idol on and off for over 40 years.

I think I’d have been impressed and excited to see Billy Idol at any point in his career, but seeing him still rock out at 70 years old blew me away. It’s definitely a show worth checking out if you get the chance.
