Joe Satriani and Steve Vai have partnered to release a new album this fall.
The Sea of Emotion is scheduled for release Nov. 6 via earMusic. The announcement was made this week via a news release. According to the document, the album will actually be the duo’s first studio partnering. This even as the legendary musicians have toured extensively over the years together. The release states the project started with plans to record a single song together.
The record’s creation started years ago during a G3 reunion tour, according to the release. A break in the tour led to the creation of two songs that have ended up on this record, ‘The Sea of Emotion pt. 1‘ and ‘The Sea of Emotion Part 2, the prior having premiered roughly two years ago. A third part to that song closes out the album. The pair premiered another single from the album this week in the form of ‘Mayhem‘ and a companion visualizer.
