As I was given this review to do, not knowing who this band was, nor ever hearing any of their music before, I went in, unbiased. A fresh, clean slate with the possibility of adding a new sound to my music library. I am always looking for something new and interesting to listen to, as should everyone else.

So before I leave the house, I post an update on the magazine facebook page, gather up my shit, and head to the car. I text the lead singer, letting him know I am on the way, and may be late as parking is a bitch. Texted back and forth with him a few times along the way, and he seemed like a pretty with it dude. Being I have dealt with many musicians over my life, this came as a big surprise, as most are hard to deal with, even in text message.

So I get to the Hard Rock Live on the strip, and it seems the only place there is to park where you don’t have to walk a mile and a half, is the Showcase Mall parking garage. I get there, its not free anymore. It’s $3. And you can’t pay by cash, only card. Bummer.

When I finally get thru all the rigamaroo of getting the press pass and finding the boys in the band, I was surprised at what I found. I found a set of eager and determined young men. Men who have gone through shit, and came out shining on the other side. We sat and talked for a little while before they went backstage to get ready, mindless jabber. I learned that I was their first professional interview, which, was cool, for both of us. They were all quite charming, and incredibly down to earth.

When they finally took the stage, I was impressed. For a band that has no huge record label deal, they performed like they had been doing it for decades. They all worked together like a rugged machine, well oiled and maintained daily. They have a full on presence about them, one you rarely see, even in big bands. They had stage props for the lead singer to bounce off of, and set sheers to display their newest album. None of the other bands had that, and I haven’t seen a band have that in a long time. These guys know their shit, and are completely serious about it.

Serosia, as a band, will go far, I believe. Why? Because unlike every other up and coming band, their music actually sounds different. Each song has its own sound to it, and you can tell the difference. Yeah, they are riding the wave of the “metal” band of present day, but, they are different, and you can feel it, see it when you look at them.

After the show I talked with them a little more, got to know them a bit, see how they behaved after. And to no surprise, they were the same cordial and polite dudes I met before the show. They would talk to everyone that came up to their table. Thanked anyone repeatedly for buying any of their merch, and were happy to take pics and autograph anything you put in front of them.

These fellas will do well for themselves I believe. They have the smarts and the understanding that all the excess of rock star life just isn’t what it is cracked up to be. They would rather remain mostly sober, with a drink here or there, than get all fucked up every show and tear shit up. They do tear shit up though, but in a good way.

They are currently touring with Sevendust, so if you have an opportunity to go check them out, I would absolutely do so. You won’t be disappointed in them at all. If you do happen to go see them, tell them GonZo from Vegas says hello, and to keep on keepin’ on.
