September 25, 2022 Swedish power metal band SABATON are due to tear it up on the Brooklyn Bowl stage in Las Vegas. The guys were originally supposed to be part of Judas Priest’s ’50 Heavy Metal Years’ tour, but with the reschedule they were dropped from that bill. (That show was rescheduled and happened earlier this year with a different opener.) This date will be one for the books, though; as Sabaton doesn’t frequent the U.S. Also, just going to point out that all of the footage I’ve seen of these guys… absoutely unreal.

A little about Sabaton…

FROM THE BAND’S WEBSITE: In over two decades since their launch, Swedish metallers Sabaton have carved out a reputation as one of the hardest working bands in the business – gaining a legion of loyal fans across the globe, delivering ten highly-rated studio albums (including two certified platinum-sellers), and scoring multiple industry award wins and nominations… not to mention launching their own annual festival and cruise.

So, we’re all familiar with “The Big Four” term. It’s mostly referenced when talking about thrash metal. But did you know that there are a plethora of “big four” influencial bands in other subgenres of the metal tree? When it comes to sales, SABATON is widely considered one of those big four types of the genre. They helped bring power metal to a wider audience alongside peers, DragonForce, Blind Guardian, and of course the pioneer of it all; Helloween.

Upon my digging about these guys, I also came across a channel dedicated to talking about the band’s history, and the meanings of their songs described by the band themselves. This very interesting series began in 2019 and still seems to be mostly up to date. Definitely worth checking out, especially if you’re a general history fan. The band’s lyrics largley talk about wars, historic battles, and acts of heroism.

Although these guys hold a very significant part in the power metal genre, the band commonly just refers themselves as a very unique form of heavy metal. I won’t argue with that, because they definitely are unique in their own right!

The Tour to End All Tours

This tour will be kicking off Sept 15 in Seattle, and wrapping up on October 23 in New York. Sabaton will be bringing along another important band in their genre; EPICA. Epica draws inspiration from a plethora of genres and places but are typically seen as symphonic with gothic tendencies. Overall I’d say they’re a really great compliment to the headliners. Check out this really killer performance that was posted just a few days ago!

Anyway, it’s safe to say that this event is going to be one that defintely should not be missed if you’re into any kind of metal. We don’t see these bands here in Vegas (Or the U.S. for that matter) often, and when we do they literally blow their performances out of the water. It looks like the last time any of our staff caught them was back in 2015… and that’s a long fucking time.

So what are you waiting for!? Head on over to Sabaton’s website, or the Brooklyn Bowl website and snag those tickets! You won’t regret it.

See you in the pit!
