The Ghost Inside: Rebirthday Bash (Gallery)

November 18, 2022 – The Ghost Inside brought a new event to the Brooklyn Bowl stage. One that they hope to repeat in the future, the very first REBIRTHDAY BASH. We were fortunate enough to catch day one of this event featuring Foreign Pain, Bleeding Through, Comeback Kid, Hatebreed, and our headliner, The Ghost Inside. For the most part, this show gave all the hardcore vibes. Although these bands definitely capture edges of metal sounds, they very much all are hardcore kids from their respective scenes.

Foreign Pain

Kicking off the night for us were Foreign Pain. It wasn’t long into their set before the hardcore dancing started in the pit on the floor with these guys! They absolutely set the tone for the evening, and the energy just kept escalating from here.

Bleeding Through

Next up on the bill was OC’s black metal inspired hardcore band, Bleeding Through. I hadn’t seen these guys since 2009, and they hadn’t been back to Vegas in a very long time. This set was definitely my most anticipated of the evening. From here we started to see crowdsurfers and endless amounts of band/crowd interaction begin, and this went on for the entirety of the following sets. Bleeding Through played a brutal set; opening with Revenge I Seek, and closing out with Kill to Believe. Objectively, watching their set was nostalgic for me, but this band is one that has stood the test of time, I’d say. They’ve always delivered high energy shows, and this one was no different!

Comeback Kid

Next up was Comeback Kid; these guys really did a great job at keeping the energy high. They reminded me a lot of the kind of energy that Stick to your Guns has – and what does that mean? Well. The ultra high energy can be dangerous on occasion when it comes to being on the floor. I definitely saw some people walk away with bloody battle wounds during their set. This is something I’ve come to expect with some hardcore bands. Musically and sound wise all was still going well for these guys and more than half the crowd could be heard singing the songs and enjoying themselves.

Hatebreed

I saw Hatebreed a few months ago on their opening slot for Anthrax, but this band is one that I’ve seen more times than I can count; and I never really get sick of them. They’re another one of those bands that just doesn’t disappoint. I was happier with this set on this run in comparison to their previous set on this stage. They had more room to roam around and it definitely worked in their advantage, I’d say. Anyway, as I mentioned, I don’t ever get sick of this band so no complaints from me with this set!

The Ghost Inside

Alas, our headliner. The Ghost Inside is one of those bands that I had never seen until this night; and I also did not even realize just how much of their music that I knew the words to. Just about every song I knew the major parts and things like this always reminds me just how powerful music is and how it can stick in your mind. (I attribute part of this to having The Ghost Inside on a number of playlists that I regularly listen to. So I couldn’t name off full lists of songs or anything, but I totally know the lyrics to a lot of them.)

The band played a Greatest Hits set, so we got to hear great songs from all of their albums released. I would have loved to see The Ghost Inside play Get What You Give on night two of this event; since that’s probably my most favorite release of theirs. But at any rate, I did not walk away disappointed this evening. I definitely look forward to the next REBIRTHDAY BASH; as it was mentioned that this was hopefully the start of a yearly festival/event!
