When it comes to delivering superb alternative rock-style songs that wouldn’t have been out of place in the grunge boom of the 90s, Chemical Tribe always delivers. Frontman Dominick Muzio remains one of Sin City’s finest purveyors of rock and roll, and teamed with musicians including Shawn Trojahn, John Robinson, and Matt Norcross, the man we came to know and love as the frontman of Wicked Garden has returned to the forefront with the release of three new singles, released in advance of a new EP that’s due out in January.
The three tracks were recorded with producer Cody Leavitt at Asteroid M Records here in Las Vegas. The first of the three singles, “So Sick,” was released on October 15. The second, “Over Before,” comes out November 15. And the third and final one, “Wear Me Down,” will arrive on December 15.
After giving them a listen, I can easily say that these three cuts are instant classics, hearkening back to the glory days of 90s alternative and grunge rock, but with a fresh new spin. “So Sick” features some of Muzio’s best vocal work to date and the chorus will be stuck in your head long after you’re done listening. “Over Before” takes things into bluesy hard rock territory that wouldn’t have been out of place on 90s rock radio, and the tune is no less excellent than its predecessor. Wrapping up the three-song package is “Wear Me Down,” probably the most upbeat and melodic of the tracks, but it’s just as infectious as what came before. These tunes are some of the best rock to come out of Vegas in quite some time, and that’s saying a lot considering the sheer amount of talent the Sin City scene has on deck.
More music from Dominick Muzio is always a good thing, and this trio of cuts from Chemical Tribe beautifully demonstrates that he’s here to stay. All three songs come highly recommended!
