The Madman Ozzy Tribute played the Copa Room at the Tuscany Hotel and Casino on Thursday, October 1, 2026.
The Copa Room at the Tuscany Hotel continues to deliver pure rock and roll entertainment to headbangers in Las Vegas on the weekends. My thanks as always to the likes of Mike, Mitch, Grayson, and Brian, who continue delivering the goods in the one spot that’s truly stepped up for the rock scene following the closure of Vamp’d last year.
October has seen the arrival of a Metallica residency in Las Vegas at the Sphere, just a few blocks from the Tuscany, so the Copa Room has added Thursday shows to serve as Metallica after-party gatherings of sorts. Most of these Thursday night gigs feature Madman, a tribute to Ozzy Osbourne, and I attended the first of these shows last week.
This definitely was not my first time seeing Madman; they’d played with Judas Priest tribute Turbo Lover a few weeks prior to this gig. However, I was disappointed due to the relatively short set and running time at that show since they had to juggle the stage with another act, meaning not too many songs were able to get played. This gig immediately remedied that past issue; when a show only has one band on the bill, they pretty much have free reign. And giving the Madman boys free reign to dig into the Ozzy catalogue was definitely grounds for celebration.
Madman unites some of Vegas finest to channel the energy and the vibe of everyone’s favorite Prince of Darkness. Sean Collett does a fantastic job portraying John Michael Osbourne, bringing both the look and the stage presence. This is certainly not the first attempt at bringing an Ozzy/Sabbath tribute to the Vegas stage (there’s another band that’s been around for years called Children the Grave I’m also a fan of), but this dude looks, sounds, and acts the part. That’s worth the price of admission alone. The band is rounded out by guitarist Frank Humel, drummer Jeff Keysar, and bassist Sammy Lasagna, musicians who clearly appreciate all eras of the Ozzman, from Sabbath to solo years. The band even walks out on stage with “O Fortuna” from CARMINA BURANA playing over the loudspakers, just like the real Ozzy!
I’m always curious to see what a tribute to Ozzy will dig out for their set. Will it be the usual hits and fare, or will the band dig a little deeper for the biggest of fans? Madman did a bit of both on this evening, much to the delight of casual rock and metal enthusiasts, and the longtime headbangers who like to, as Ozzy would so eloquently put it, “Go f***ing crazy!” From the Sabbath era, tunes like “War Pigs” and “Iron Man” made the cut, and even “Changes,” complete with piano parts played live! Solo hits played included “I Don’t Know,” “Mr. Crowley,” “Bark at the Moon,” “Shot in the Dark,” and the title cut from “No More Tears.”
But where Madman impressed me most was breaking away from the fare that most Ozzy/Sabbath tributes is that this band wasn’t afraid to dig slightly deeper into the catalogue on a few occasions. This included “See You On the Other Side” from 1995’s OZZMOSIS album, and a pair of cuts from 2001’s DOWN TO EARTH; “Dreamer” and “Gets Me Through (random trivia: the bassist on the DOWN TO EARTH album was a pre-Metallica Robert Trujillo). The biggest and best moment of this show for me was the band performing “Suicide Solution,” itself a fantastic deep cut from Ozzy’s 1980 solo debut, BLIZZARD OF OZZ. This version was based on the one that appeared on the TRIBUTE live album, with their guitarist even pulling off the extended Randy Rhoads solo from that seminal on-stage recording. I look forward to seeing what songs these guys will pull out of the vault next… could their next Copa Room performances include “You Said It All,” “I Don’t Want to Change the World,” “Secret Loser,” and “Perry Mason?” This headbanger has no doubt the Madman boys could do these tunes justice.
Madman will be playing a few more Thursdays in October concurrent with the Metallica residency at the Sphere, so fans of the Ozzman will have plenty more chances to hit up the Copa Room to experience the sounds of the Prince of Darkness in an intimate and all-around great venue. If you love the sounds of classic hard rock and heavy metal, a trip to Tuscany to see Madman should be part of your October plans.
