Mark Smith

Mark R Smith ESQ- Rockin' The Law Columnist: Mark has been involved in the business side of music since 1987 when he began managing bands and artists in and around the Boston Massachusetts region, while also producing and hosting a cable television program through which he provided community-wide exposure to independent regional talent. In the early 1990’s, Mark relocated to Los Angeles California and continued promoting unsigned independent artists through his Hunter Smith Cable Radio Program, often playing Indie Artists’ demos alongside certain works of major artists that most commercial radio networks refused to play. In the early 2000’s Mark founded Straight Up Management, through which he worked extensively with Christian Rock crossover bands and solo artists, seamlessly placing his artists alongside mainstream performers in the L.A. club circuit. In 2004, Mark returned to school to complete his undergraduate studies in Business Administration, graduating summa cum laude from Regis University in 2006. Thereafter, he relocated to Las Vegas with his family in 2006 to attend the William S. Boyd School of Law and earned his Juris Doctorate degree in December 2009. In 2012, Mark founded the Law Offices of Mark R. Smith, P.C., where he primarily practices in the areas of Entertainment Law and Intellectual Property Matters; Business Formation, Representation and Litigation and other civil litigation matters. As a creator, artist manager, and a former performer himself, Mark is very much in tune with the things that drive artists and entertainers; and is passionate about working with this very special breed of human to help navigate them through many types of professional and personal legal matters.
