When I heard about the release of Alter Bridge’s new album “Fortress” being released October 8th, I have to admit I let out a little fan-boy squee…when I got to listen to it first hand, I was literally grinning form ear to ear and ended up mesmerized. Lead vocalist and guitarist Myles Kennedy, lead guitarist Mark Tremonti, bassist Brian Marshall, and drummer Scott Phillips never fail to please. Their new album lives up to the reputation they have built with previous releases with powerful anthems that inspire a variety of emotions. Cry of Achilles begins with a delicate guitar and flows brilliantly into signature Alter Bridge style and lead the way for an epic musical experience. Myles’s vocals can be inspirational, heart wrenching, and touching all in the same breath and this is only magnified by the incredible musicians accompanying him in this musical journey. MY favorite was the fourth song on the album, “Lover”. Thanks guys! You made my year.
