STORY OF THE YEAR – 20 Years of Page Avenue hitting BBLV

I don’t know about you guys but I am definitely not tired of these 20 year celebration shows. On November 5th STORY OF THE YEAR will be celebrating the 20th anniversary of their break out album, Page Avenue at Brooklyn Bowl. They held a tear jerking set at last year’s When We Were Young and we are so excited that they’re coming back to Vegas to celebrate this landmark album. Supporting acts Four Year Strong, and Youth Fountain are also listed on this run.

Page Avenue was released on September 16, 2003, and was produced by John Feldmann. (Feldmann also produced albums from The Used, Good Charlotte, & Atreyu, among many others that you’ve more than likely heard through the years. He is also the frontman and founding member of Goldfinger.)

“Until the Day I Die” became an anthem for many of us whether we related it to friendships or adolescent puppy love. Arguably it could be considered one of the first “emo” songs that we heard on MTV and the radio, which is absolutely crazy to think back on. “Anthem of our Dying Day” carried much of that same energy after it’s released. Somber sounding and easy to listen to, this was a regular on some of my mixed CD’s back when those were a thing.

Heavy emotions carry on strong with their third single, “Sidewalks.” These three songs were released over a year’s time span and just like that, Story of the Year became an unforgettable piece of the journey for a lot of us.

In celebration of it’s10th birthday a decade ago, Story of the Year released an entirely acoustic version of Page Avenue. (As if we needed any more elements to really connect to this music. I’m a sucker for good acoustics, personally.)

Honestly, while I always appreciate re-releases and re-imaginings of landmark albums in bands’ careers, there’s something much more special in seeing the albums performed live in their entirety. I say that as I listen to this album on repeat, and I almost forgot just how much I loved this album when it was released.

We are way excited to see this album performed live here in the City of Sin. And even though Page Avenue is probably still their most popular release, the guys have not stopped making music the last 20 years. “Tear Me to Pieces” was released in March of this year. The album cover of this record looks to be made from the very same image that Page Avenue, just completely re imagined. Honestly, that’s pretty cool. Songs from this album already have play numbers in the millions on Spotify, so it’s safe to say that the fans are still holding on strong! This is what we like to see over here.
