April 18th 2025 – In their long overdue return to America, Bury Tomorrow is currently tearing their way through a handful of lucky cities along with While She Sleeps and Vended. These lovely lads hail from Southhampton, England and the band is comprised of: Daniel Winter-Bates (vox), Davyd Winter-Bates (bass), Adam Jackson (drums), Kristan Dawson (lead guitar, backing vocals), Ed Hartwell (rhythm guitar) and Tom Prendergast (keyboard, clean vocals).
Bury Tomorrow solidified themselves as a Metalcore staple with their debut album Portraits back in 2009 and have been consistently putting out albums every 2-3 years ever since. If you’re doing the mental math then yes you are correct, this means that they are dropping another album this year! Will You Haunt Me, With That Same Patience is being released on May 16th and with the heavy hitting tracks they’ve released thus far, we are in for one hell of an album! Seriously, I defy you to not sing along to the chorus of What if I Burn or make the metal ‘stank face’ during the bridge breakdown on Villain Arc.
If you couldn’t tell, I’m a big fan of these guys and have been since the days of 480p YouTube and before Crabcore was a term.
Enough about you Jeremy, how was THE SHOW???
Alright alright I had to let my fandom show itself just a little bit…but with all sincerity this show exemplified a band that has been putting everything they have into their music for over a decade and have no intention of letting up. They gave it their all and I feel extremely fortunate to not only be in the audience, but also to capture a fraction of the energy.
They came out of the gate swinging with their song Abandon Us (2023) and it really set the tone of what the audience was in store for. The electronic intro built up the energy of the crowd as the members made their introductions to the stage and with a brief pause…a crescendo of kick drums, string-skipping-guitar-riffing-goodness and Daniel’s unique scream filled the room. The crowd was moving; the pit opened up and everyone joined in the call and response of “I’m telling you now, we were left for dead, we were left for dead”; it was an incredible start to say the least.
I could go on for hours about how every second of that hour-long set was an adrenaline-fueled blast, but I don’t think even then I’d be able to accurately describe what made it what it was and you should go see them anyways! Instead I’d like to call out a moment during the show that I think is ironically indicative of the metal-music community given its ‘tough-tattooed’ exterior. This article isn’t the platform to go into it but this is a turmoil mired time we live in, which Daniel called out during this brief pause in the music. However, the point wasn’t left to linger in the air as a sour note; the crowd was asked to introduce themselves to the people next to them, lift their arms up and place them over each other’s shoulders. After a moment of reflecting on the community we are part of, this humanizing moment was punctuated by the entire crowd jumping off their feet as Bury Tomorrow launched into the next song. This momentum was carried through all the way to when the band finished their set with their mammoth of a song Choke (2020)
This band truly deserves all the well-earned success they have garnered; not only did they put on a killer performance but everyone from the Bury Tomorrow camp I met after the show was nothing but kind and had a genuine excitement for this tour and upcoming shows. It isn’t easy coming to the states to tour but I hope that it won’t be too long until the next time they come through because I know I won’t be missing it!
