April 24, 2026 – Chad Gray’s 30 Years of Madness run kicked off at Fremont Country Club in Downtown Las Vegas. Originally slated for the smaller, more intimate Backstage Bar & Billiards stage, the demand for this show blew up within hours of going on sale. And within just a couple days, announcement of the switchover to the bigger stage and before you know it.. Sold out. It’s Sick New World weekend here in Vegas, so naturally all of the nu-metal kids are out and about. Fans lined up all the way around the block at 601 Fremont Street, but the lines moved quickly and it didn’t take long for the floor to completely fill up.
On the agenda was a whole mix of songs throughout Mudvayne and Hellyeah’s span, and man… It was a hell of a ride!
Kami Kehoe
Kicking off the night was LV raised, LA based, Kami Kehoe. I’d never heard of her prior to this show, but she is a rising force within the rock scene these days, and it’s not difficult to see why. She gave us a bit of a longer set than most openers, but it was relentless. Filled with emotion and intensity. It’s hard to really pop a label on Kami. She’s got this great range in her voice that could easily be dropped into a number of different genres. (We don’t need to talk any more about how many types of genres I enjoy…) Elements of what I’d consider kind of atmospheric indie pop and hard rock, but with an extra edge that, again, makes it hard to really give an idea of where she fits in this scene. It’s one of those things you kind of have to see for yourself. A fun surprise was added on the third song of her set when she stepped behind the drum kit and tore that shit up. It had me thinking to myself, “I love when women….exist.” What a total badass! A fun cover of Kings of Leon’s “Sex on Fire” added to her overall sensual energy – on top of all the badassery, she really is a beautiful force. Kami has a pretty large following on social media, and whoever does her video work… bravo. That shit is great. Things look pretty good for this up and comer, and I’m excited to see where she runs off with it all. She will be back in Sin City later this year supporting Breaking Benjamin.

30 Years of Madness – Chad Gray
It’s not really a secret that nu-metal was never really my main jam. I’ve got nothing against it, I just veered off into different directions when it started getting super popular back in the 90’s and early 2000’s. I’ve only seen Chad Gray perform one other time – during Vinnie Paul’s sold out memorial show at House of Blues back in 2019. (Big thanks to Christian Brady for that one…) My first impression back then was, “Goddamn, this dude is a force to be reckoned with…” and not much of that opinion has changed this time around.
Four songs in the photo pit this time around, and on song two the power started glitching and the fire alarms started going off. A few minutes of us all going, “What the fuck? Well… Chad and the dudes just broke the venue…” They didn’t, some adjustments seemingly being made behind the scenes and in no time the show was back in order. I’ve seen A LOT of shows in this building, and I’ve never seen anything like that happen so I was definitely surprised, but also I couldn’t help but giggle alongside local legend, Fred Morledge. (At the risk of sounding ridiculous, it’s always a privilege to share the photo space with Fred, I’ve literally admired him for all of my years spent in the scene.) Anyway… onwards we went!
I can only imagine how hard it must be to compile all the songs loved by both the fans and the artist spanning 30 years, but I’d say Chad did a stellar job with this. There wasn’t an exact back and forth between Mudvayne and Hellyeah tracks, but they definitely covered all of their bases. Obviously “Moth”, “Not Falling”, “Love Falls”, and “Hush” were scattered throughout the set, which are arguably some of the most popular songs from the two bands. An excited to the brim crowd burst when never performed live before “Scream With Me” rang out through the venue. A fun story near the end of the night about how “Alcoholin’ Ass” came to fruition was definitely a highlight and I’m not going to lie, every time I hear artists talk about their experiences with Dimebag and Vinnie, or places where some of those massive Pantera records were produced, I get a little somber… but I’m glad people go out of their way to share the good times from two people who helped create and influence a whole different force within metal. Closing out the set with Mudvayne’s most popular song, “Happy?” really rounded out the whole evening.
All in all, it was a great event to be able to witness. I was a little bummed that we didn’t see Christian Brady until later on in the set, but the guys all killed the performance and I definitely had a blast vibing off the crowd’s energy and shooting. I’m sure I’ll see Christian somewhere else down the line eventually. Next month Chad Gray continues on a short tour to celebrate his 30 Years of Madness, so if it’s coming anywhere near you, go check it out! It’s a good time.
