The Bones played the Copa Room at the Tuscany Hotel and Casino Friday, June 26, 2026.
Las Vegas music scene continues to face competition from other genres and forms of entertainment, but the good folks at the Tuscany continue to bring rock music to the masses in Sin City. As always, my thanks to Brian, Mike, Grayson, Mitch, and everyone else who has made the venue’s Copa Room a great spot for rock and roll in the wake of other former venues.
The Copa Room is a small and intimate spot, yet can handle a decent sized crowd of rock and rollers, as has been proven the past several months. The 10:00 PM start time for this show was, admittedly, later than I would like (the Copa Room is shared with other productions, including a Rat Pack tribute show), but I’m always willing to go out and support my favorite bands, be them local, national, or international. The band was even giving a free 12” single to the first few fans through the door!
Patrick Vitagliano has been fronting the Bones for over a decade now. Of all Vegas-based bands, this may very well be the one I’ve seen the most, and that’s definitely not a bad thing. Mr. Vitagliano and company have found a formula that works, doing reimagined and stripped down covers (often of songs you’d never expect) and giving them a raw, punky, power-pop edge. They’ve also released several albums of original material, and their average set is a perfect balance of the two.
For more recent Bones shows, legendary Vegas blues/rock guitarist Stoney Curtis has been filling the spot on stage that is usually filled by Armored Saint guitarist Jeff Duncan, though given Duncan’s commitments to that legendary heavy metal band, it’s understandable that he can’t always be with the Bones. But that hasn’t stopped the quartet from dishing out fantastic power pop/rock with their own signature style. Vitagliano is always a striking figure on stage with his cheese-shaped guitar (complete with holes!) and hilarious ranting and raving between songs.
The band always has a good chemistry, but perhaps even more impressive is just how eclectic of setlists the bands can compile, reinventing old and new tunes alike in their signature style. How many bands do you know that can be covering the Cars one minute, and Lady Gaga the next? The original material is equally impressive, and flows quite well with the covers.
It’s never a dull time with the Bones, and this Tuscany gig was no exception. I always love rocking out with these guys, and it’s no surprise they brought in a pretty good sized crowd on this Friday night. You owe it to yourself to check these guys out if you’re a fan of live rock music… and don’t forget to add their original material to your collection!
