JUST ANNOUNCED!
New Orleans, LA based extreme metal band GOATWHORE just announced a handful of headliner tour dates before heading out on the road with GWAR. Guess who’s the first stop!? YOU’RE DAMN RIGHT! Las Vegas! The guys will be playing Backstage Bar & Billiards in Downtown Las Vegas on May 16th.
The last time we caught GOATWHORE was at TheDive Bar for a special 35th Anniversary of METAL BLADE RECORDS show. The place was packed. Cattle Decapitation headlined that run and I remember barely even being able to get in and out of the venue. (You can read Ethan Pretre’s thoughts on that show, HERE.)
NOLA Love
In my home, we are avid fans of NOLA metal, which is super apparent by our Crowbar, Goatwhore, Eyehategod, and of course Acid Bath things that we have around this place. My husband spent half his life in Louisiana; and man has he got stories of the music that comes from there. He literally could talk your ear off. To make a long explanation short, he’s pretty much a HUGE fan of Goatwhore/Acid Bath founder, Sammy Duet. So much so that he bought Sammy’s signature ESP guitar without even having had a chance to hold it in his hands. (I’ve also been trying to get ahold of his custom guitar picks for what seems like forever with zero luck. They’re constantly sold out. Because they’re fucking cool as hell.)
Las Vegas Local Openers
Opening up this show are a handful of really great Las Vegas local bands. My friends in SHEER COLD have been working their tails off and I’m excited to see what they bring to the stage on this bill.(The last time I saw them play was on an opening slot for Ov Sulfur, check that piece out HERE.) Foul Deformity is a relatively new name for me, but from what I gathered they’ve got a member of Guttural Secrete and I love those guys so I’m excited to see what they’re about live. Volterrum is another show opener regular, and they’re always pretty on point with their sets. Very tight and organized. (They were an opener for John Gist’s September Steel bill back in 2018.) Hiding Outside is another newer name, but put together by Jordan Kloepfer (formerly of Casket Raider). Jordan’s got wonderful energy and passion so I’m also excited to see him perform again. (We covered Casket Raider at TheDive, and at Zia Records in 2018.)
Want to know one of the best things about this show? Tickets are only $12. Yeah, you read that right. 12 bucks for a killer headliner and a stacked group of local bands. You can pick up tickets HERE, or from the local promoter. It’s on a Monday night, but who cares? Metal is for every day of the week.
SEE YOU IN THE PIT!
